Today I Pray
that I do not linger in the past
recounting "what ifs"
and second guessing days gone by
Let me take from yesterday
the lessons --
the stepping stones
towards tomorrow
Let me turn down
the noise
and clear away the distractions
of a sometimes overwhelming life
So that I can stand squarely
in the abundant light of today

Beautiful prayer...one that I need today. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day!
The photo is just as amazing as the words. This prayer is deeply felt.
Your prayer is my prayer too. This is a wonderful post, and I really needed it today...thanks!
beautiful prayer. It's midnight now in india and as i go to bed i take this prayer to start the day anew tomorrow morning.
Thank you for reminding me of this. I have a daily gratitude blog that I do everyday and I was almost going to skip it today until I read your prayer.
Thank you,
Cindy
That is such an amazing prayer and it definitely spoke to me!
How can your words--which are clearly so deeply personal--speak in exactly the right language for ME? This is a wonderful benediction, as I contemplate beginning a 100-day long project.
No more looking back..just looking to today, to this moment, and being grateful.
Thank you!
Thank you all for your kind words. You really have no idea how your comments lift my spirits. no idea at all. I'm glad you liked the sentiment -- and I hope it made for a better day and a new perspective.
Tabitha - thanks for commenting on the photo. It's really not the greatest picture in the world -- but for some reason I just love it. I'm glad you liked it as well.
Have a great day -- and thanks again for all your kind feedback. You fuel my spirit!
Lauren--your words made the tears spurt out again. But it's a good thing, really . . . just having this confirmation that I'm not the only one praying to not "linger in the past."
What helps me the most are your final words: "stand squarely in the abundant light of today"---that's where God is, and that is where He wants me, and you, and all of us, to be. In His divine and loving here and now.
Thank you, so much, for these thoughts.
